Sette is Italian for seven, the traditional "lucky" number. The restaurant design is comfortable with a traditional Italian tone, and with a great "feel and flow." Sette Osteria is a destination place for people as well as a place for people walking in the area to come in and enjoy.
Decor: Sette Osteria has an open kitchen and an action station viewable by guests. Pizzas are cooked in a wood-burning pizza oven.
The best decor in a restaurant is people. Windows give guests a view of the active passing scenes on busy Connecticut Avenue and R Streets. And, people walking by are able to view a very inviting and appealing restaurant. The decor is soft and appealing but still carries a theme of sophisticated Italian culture and international buzz. Guests can view the young people going in and out of the chic clothing stores Benetton and Sisley.
Outdoor Patio: Doors open to the restaurant, allowing people inside and out to experience the sunny weather outside.
Management: The management team has a strong Italian background and knows how to duplicate the "trattorias"of Napoli.
Franco Nuschese, who is known for his rise in the restaurant business as CEO and President of Cafe Milano in Georgetown, is a leading partner of Sette Osteria. Franco was born on the Amalfi Coast in Italy and returns there often to catch up on what is happening in the field of culinary arts as well as the fashion and entertainment industries.
Andrea Tripi, a native of Italy, is Director of Restaurants. Andrea has over 20 years of restaurant experience, including working in Rome, Italy, where he owned and operated three restaurants, Gran Caffe Quirinetta, I Pigri di Rodi and Lo Sfizio, as well as in Washington D.C. With a focus on guest satisfaction, and a long-term commitment to making each dining a truly unique experience, over the years Andrea has built one of the highest reputations in the Italian restaurant industry. In addition to Italian, his native language, Andrea speaks English and Spanish. He is also Director of Restaurants at Sette Bello in Arlington, Virginia.
Menu: A strong emphasis is on Neapolitan fare, with gourmet pizzas, homemade pastas and wonderful appetizers. Wood-burning ovens are used to cook the gourmet pizzas. There will always be at least seven varieties of exceptional pizzas on the menu. We have vegetarian offerings and a whole array of traditional Italian cuisine that are sure to please. Something new is added to the menu every day.
Sette Osteria brings to Dupont Circle and all of the Washington metropolitan area a restaurant that offers great value in a relaxed and fun atmosphere that people will enjoy time and time again. Sette Osteria takes the original Italian concept of Cafe Milano and expands its success into a bold new cost-effective and casual everyday restaurant.
Sette Osteria has the flexibility to satisfy the diner with an authentic Italian meal served with great wine and great service and to make the lunch or dinner "an event."
Take-out orders are available on premises.
Bar service: Sette Osteria has a comfortable, casual bar with high energy. Sette Osteria understands that people are not only going out to eat, they are going out to have an experience and receive something special for their money. People love to meet and talk to new people. This is what we have created at Sette Osteria. The spacious bar is inviting with a friendly, well-trained staff that can lead people into interesting conversations. Acknowledging and remembering people and what they like and how they like their drinks and food are important.
The bar is full service, with all the standard liquor and introducing new items coming onto the market. Pricing is affordable to keep the bar active from lunch to dinner and on through late-night cocktails. Food is served at the bar from opening to closing to allow people still another place to eat where they are most comfortable.
The wine list is developed around the menu and moderately priced. Wines are Italian and American, with a strong emphasis on southern Italian vintages.
